The Day of Rest, Refreshing, Renewal, Punishment and Vengeance
Your
father Abraham rejoiced that he was to see My
Day; he saw it and was glad (John 8:
56).
Do not marvel at this; for The hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear His voice and come forth, those whom have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of judgement ( John 5: 28 – 29).
The Day of the Lord is a day
of Rest, Refreshing, Renewal, Punishment and Vengeance. When
you read the Major and Minor Prophets and even the Psalms in the Old Testament
of the Bible you will hear them talk often of THE DAY OF THE LORD. This refers to
the end of the age and the literal return of Jesus Christ as was revealed to
them in visions, dreams or by the word of the LORD.
The Day of the Lord is day of great wrath, vengeance, destruction, punishment, blackness, supernatural and strange phenomenon in the heavenlies and the earth, it is a day of sadness and gnashing of teeth, it is a day of sufferings and death, it is a day of resurrection, but most importantly it is a day of hope, transformation, redemption and great rejoicing for the children of God, whether living or dead.
Other days of gloom, uncertainty and wrath will precede and follow The Day of the Lord. The Day of the Lord is a particular or specific day (or Hour) reserved and known to God (Zechariah 14: 6 – 7, Luke 21: 34 – 35). It is the day God acts; when Jesus is in His full elements as Man of war, the Lion of the tribe of Judah and Redeemer and Restorer of all things. It is the culmination of the end time and the ultimate of the last days. It is the end of an age and the commencement of another age. It is the same day spoken of in the New Testaments by the Apostles and Disciples of Jesus Christ as DAY OF CHRIST and by Jesus Christ Himself in the four gospels as MY DAY, MY HOUR or DAY OF THE SON OF MAN.

Commentary on New Testament’s ‘The Day of the Lord’:
1. Mathew
7: 22:
I
Never Knew You.
On That (judgement) Day He
will say I never knew you – many will claim to know and worked for Him.
Rejection will be the lot of many because of hypocrisy, unrighteousness and
disobedience.
2. Mathew
24: 30:
The
Coming of The Son of Man.
The sign of The Son of Man in the sky
will be on The Day of the Lord.
3. Mathew
24: 31:
The
Coming of The Son of Man.
The sound of the great trumpet, the
activities of angels and the gathering of God’s chosen people from the four
corners of the world (Two events that are often referred to as THE FIRST RESURRECTION and RAPTURE or THE SNATCHING AWAY) is on The Day of the Lord.
4. Mathew
24: 36 – 51:
No
One Knows the Day and Hour.
A prerogative of the Godhead and to whom
they reveal it to, if they wish. It is a sudden and heart wrenching
day. But for those on guard it is a day of pleasant news. The Day of the Lord is
not generally known.
5. Mathew
25: 1 – 13:
The
Parable of the Ten Young (Christian) Women
Five are foolish and five are wise. The
foolish are foolish because prior to and on The Day of the Lord they
were not on guard. The wise are wise because prior to and on the Day of the
Lord they are on guard. This is a warning to the CHURCH. The Day of the Lord is
not generally known.
6. Mark
13: 26:
The
Coming of The Son of Man.
It is on The Day of the Lord when
the Son of Man will appear in clouds with great power and glory.
7. Mark
13: 27:
The
Coming of The Son of Man.
It is on The Day of the Lord when
He sends His angels to gather God’s chosen people from all over the earth (Two
events that are known as THE FIRST RESURRECTION and RAPTURE or THE SNATCHING
AWAY).
8. Mark
13: 32 – 37:
No
One Knows the Day or Hour.
The Day of the Lord may
be in the night, sunset, morning or sunrise. Be on the guard and watch – a
warning to ALL from God.
9. Luke
17: 24:
The
Coming of The Kingdom.
As the lightning flashes across the sky
and lights it up from one side to another, so will The Son of Man be In
His Day.
10. Luke
17: 26 – 31:
The
Coming of The Kingdom.
As it was in the time of Noah and Lot,
so shall it be in The Days of The Son of Man – they were days men paid unalloyed
attention to self satisfaction, self aggrandizement, self lust, self interest,
self goals, self acquisition, self, self, self with no heed to God, word of God
or things of God and so when God took action they were caught unawares. That is
how it will be on The Day of The Son of Man.
11. Luke
21: 7 – 28:
Troubles
and Persecutions (prior to the coming of The Son of Man).
“The
Days of Punishment’’ – (characterized by Earthquakes; Famines and
Plagues everywhere; Strange and terrifying occurrences in the sky; Kingdoms
will attack one another; Arrests and Persecutions; Trials and casting into
prisons before world princes; Rejection and betrayal by family and loved ones; Martyring
of Saints; Hatred from all corners because of Jesus; Rumour mongering of wars
and revolutions the other of day; Deceivers everywhere – false Christ and
Saviour; Proclamation of the Gospel and Truth with power – in difficulty and
out of difficulty; Invasion and overthrow of power or entity controlling
Jerusalem; Massive fleeing from the cities to the mountains, countryside and
suburbs) will precede The Day of the Lord in order to
fulfil scriptures.
12. Luke
21: 34 – 36:
The
Need to Watch.
Followers of Jesus, Be on your guard!
Don’t let yourselves become occupied with much feasting and drinking and with
the worries of life, or That Day may suddenly catch you like
a trap. For it will come upon all people everywhere on earth. Be on the alert
and pray always...
